now dont get me wrong... I cant wait to have a championship, but when you think about it, Braggin rights for 364.5 days over your arch enemy is a lot more fun than anything. you can take it with you to work everyday, and when someone starts talking noise all you have to do is pull out Exibit BYA (beat yo a$$) and they will leave you alone... but to us, in our small little corner of the US, beating Clemson, is just like winning the national championship, doesnt matter what part of the country you live in, like IM in Decatur, Ga... and for SC to win against Clemson, nothing else matters. Rivalry games is what ultimately gets you your players. cause those players that comes into said stadium and witnesses the passion and the pagentry of that is, a rivalry game, thats a lasting impact, win or loose... and winning it, is more or less the icing on the cake. JMO.

I would love to win an SEC Championship and believe we will before Steve is done at USC.
That said, IF we win one and lose to the Tigers I can hear my clempson buddies(or fans I don't know) now saying "well I guess that makes us the SEC Champs since we whipped yall".
Heck, we should win them both if we're that good. Like others said in the old thread, if we are SEC Champs, the probability of beating the taters will be high..
Makes for a good debate though and shows how much fans like myself hate to lose to their arch rival.

exactly. and come national signing day, if we get these recievers, then we should be golden in the terms of doing both... but the point of my statement is not for us to win championships... that will come in due time... I just want the university athletic whole to be focused on beating clemson in every sport. Baseball, football, basketball, the hockey club, soccer, track and field, equestrian, whatever... All I want is for there to be an end to the reign that those taters have on us. We were first, and we need our rightful place. END CLEMSON! I do want the championships, I do want the national exposer... but I want us to be able to defeat the enemy that matters the most more than those in conference. you get what Im sayin?

I see what you all are saying about how important it is to beat Clemson, but things will change. If/When you guys start beating them regularly, it wont be such a big deal anymore. We've beat GT so many times in a row that it really doesnt mean that much to me. That game ends up being one of the least exciting of the season. But that too may change someday, if they start beating us. Then a win would be more important.
It all just depends on whos been winning the rivalry lately, to determine how big of a game it will be and how much it means.

yeah, and I want that point to come soon... I just want it to be ritually something that happens at least 3 times in 4 years ya know? Instead of they win 4 and then we 1 and they 5 and we 1 more, ya know? I just want it to be a rivalry instead of a "oh well, here we go again" thing ya know? and I dont ever think it will be that way, cause lol you would have to, in my opinion, be from South Carolina, or have gone to the university, to really understand and feel how intense the rivalry can get... like if you go into Williams-Brice Stadium, or even Clemsons little hillside playground, and you see all the garnet, or all the orange, and the passion that comes from the fans, you would understand how and why its important to beat them. lol im rambling i know, but thats how it is to me, its really important to just beat them with some sort of consistancy, and not just on there field, at home, on a neutral site, where ever... ok, done. lol night, GO COCKS!!!
