CENTRAL — DeAndre McDaniel, a defensive back recently moved to linebacker for the Clemson Tigers, was arrested Saturday by Central police and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Police Chief Kerry Avery said the incident occurred Saturday at University Apartments. Avery added that McDaniel has since posted bond.
Details are incomplete at this time but Avery added that McDaniel was the only individual arrested. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison on the felony charge.
Clemson head football coach Tommy Bowden issued the following statement regarding McDaniel: “We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering the facts.”
IN other words, they are contacting boosters looking for hush money and how they can get McDaniel off.
